Well. As stated before. I became obsessed with trapping at age 12 & stopped around age 15. I caught a few possums & one raccoon. My goal was always a fox. I lived life & moved around in my trade. Made it back home & got a line out this year. Finally got a fox. Surprisingly not a red, but a gray. The 12 year old inside me is alive & well this evening. Got him skinned, but he’s going to the tannery.

Well done! It took me years to catch my first. Once I figured it out, I caught 8-10 that year. Sadly, the spot I caught most of them has 6-8 house on it now.

Same here and boy were they a long time coming! I believe I caught both the same year.... after several years of no success. I was on top of the world when I saw that first one (the red) bouncing around. Felt like I was finally a "real" trapper.

My first fox was a gray, I got it mounted, paid for it with fur money.

Congratulations on your fox, my first was a grey also when I was 15. I was riding my bicycle to my cousins farm about 2 miles away daily to check traps.
