Sort of like trappin, just for fish. I have played and played with ideas on how to set the thing off and saw this idea on a U-tube. Works great in the cellar. That big washer on the 3/4 inch dowel is to be slide to what ever tension you want. The screw in the end of the dowel, closes a split I cut into in the end to tighten down on the line through it for bigger live baits. We have at least 5 inches of ice and yesterday had waves on top of it but today it did not get above freezing and in a day or two can test it out. Oh I did not show the green rod going through the hole behind it to support the rod holder upright......jk
