That is sad news. I was just reminiscing about our visits at our Trapperman Breakfast here.

Many didn't know this about Jim. Besides on being a very good trapper that put up some impressive numbers, he was an accomplished rock and mountain climber.

Sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Prayers and thoughts for Jim's family and many friends.

I asked him a question about mink line management one time. He sent me a paragraph full of knowledge. And included his phone number, said call anytime you have a question. Who the heck does that? What a nice nice guy in my book.

Jim helped me tremendously on mink trapping, with just a couple paragraphs. How lucky to have been able to ask questions of him.

RIP Does anyone have a picture of Jim. I might have met him but not personally.

Jim had the largest single season coon catch I know of in Minnesota and it was when coon were worth good money. He was the one the first to use chain drowners . He invented his pocket poppers for mink trapping and marketed at conventions. But most importantly to Jim was helping other trappers especially young trappers starting out . He was a talented cabinet maker and carpenter as well.

He’s partly responsible for me getting into the trapping inventions!
