Thought some of you may find this interesting. Weatherby Capra, a 4 pound rifle, titanium action, carbon fiber stock, etc. I just bought a tikka t3 superlite that weighs 6 pounds, my mind can't comprehend a 4 pound rifle.

Wonder what recoil is like on something that light ? Got curious about the whole ultralight hunting thing a while back ...a rabbit hole that even I find a lil odd lol

Comes with a break and recoil pad. I would be adding some Weight with a suppressor but bet thet woulf make it very muzzle heavy.

Most people would b better off shaving a few pounds off themselves than their rifle.

I've got one of those Yildiz 12 gauge single shot shotguns from Academy. It weighs 4.8 lbs. It's bearable with 1oz loads but It'll tear you up with 1 1/4oz. loads or slugs.
The gun's rated for 3" magnum. I'm not going to try it but I think you could literally hurt yourself touching off a 3" shell.

I can't imaging torching off something like a .270 in a 4lb rifle.

I have a M70 Featherweight and a Mod 700 Mountain. Both will not pattern after the barrels heat up.

it's going to be heck on optics

Vortex uses a Kimber Mountain accent in 300 win mag to proof test optics

this might just have a worse recoil impulse than that

I would like to try shooting it, just to see how much recoil it actually has.

They didnt chamber them in any big magnum rounds for recoil. I have a christensen 300 prc that comes in just over 5# and it doesnt kick, my 14 yo shoots it. By the time you bolt on a scope, add suppressor, sling & load it your at 7 or 8#. Suppressor weight 5-6 Oz, not enough to notice or make muzzle heavy & its not hard on a good scope.

They likely didn't chamber them in any magnum loads due to needing a longer receiver for those loads.

I just punched a 6.5 Creedmoor max load out of a 4 pound rifle, comes to 20 foot lbs of recoil, about the same amount of recoil as an average rifle in .308, pretty mild. I don't think ide bother running a muzzle break on it for hunting that's for sure. I'm sure the guides will love the 17" or 21" barrels with a muzzle break going off beside them.

My Cooper M92 is like 5.75 before optics. It’ll outshoot every other rifle I own. That being said, it’s not meant to be a bench rifle. It’ll start walking in a hurry when it heats up. That’s not its intended purpose. It’s meant to carry real well when I have a 30lb pack on my back and I’m covering 10 miles a day on my feet. It’s braked, and it’s loud, but the recoil is no big deal. It’s a 7mm. I will say that light rifles are kind of like short axel bows, they’ll magnify any flaws in your form real quick. All that being said, my Cooper is truly one of my most trusted and favorite rifles.

Had an ultralight Taurus 44 mag once. 27-28 oz. Can't remember exactly.

First time I shot it with 240 grain bullets, it put an instant blister on the inside of my palm. Had to shoot that pistol with gloves from then on. Got to where it would only shoot 180s and still turn the cylinder. It was an absolute beast that I will never own again.

I will carry more weight in a pistol or rifle for the recoil absorption. Ultralights suck in my opinion.
