Caught a red fox last week went to gland it and the mammalian glands were active when I went to pelt it, then I found 7 well developed pups when collecting the bladder it seems awful early for pup I doubt they would of made it especially 7 with the mortality rates they have. I have the tube pic but it might not be appropriate to post.

Just like most animals, there's early, normal and late birth times
I'd say she is descended from an early drop lineage
Just my thoughts

It’s been unseasonably warm that might of sparked something I don’t know first time running into this.

I think most species of animals have it occur in certain areas
I would have to do more research to come to a definite answer

I know that an early drop fawn, means momma was bred in early October around here
Which explains why you will find earlier signs of buck activity in isolated areas

The guy released birds he wanted her gone she raised some pups last year. I tried to avoid setting but he’s a good guy and the conditions improved so I put in a couple sets for him. No new sign in his tree belt so I’m pulling the other trap tomorrow.

I heard red foxes screaming a few times, within the last week, on my farm, so I expect kits will be on the way.

Most red foxes around here are born about the last week of February. Earliest I have seen red fox pups playing outside of their groundhog hole den in the middle of a field was February 14 (I remember the date as it was Valentines Day and I was traveling to buy the wife a box of chocolates). So they were born around January 20. Around here litters of 6 or 7 are quite common.

One year the local dog warden called me up on February 24th and claimed someone had brought in
a 3 week old red fox pup they had picked up along the road.
I started laughing and told them to bring it on over, ( knowing it could not be a red fox ).
When she showed up and opened the van door, my jaw dropped.
"Well, what is it ?" she asked.
Sure enough there sat a baby red fox about 3 weeks old.
I was speechless. . .
How it was even born, much less got the side of the road remains a mystery.
Most foxes here aren't born until late March or April.

When I raised ranch fox, the vixens would start to come into heat around the end of January. The peak breeding was February 12. Most females averaged a gestation of 51 days,
Pups would start showing up around early April. I really miss those, but not the feed bills.

i would agree coyote addict in general fox are January and coyotes are February but this year young generally are the first to come into season and even biologist will tell you the same around here most fox live around buildings and have became urbanized so young fox have a better chance of survival compared to young coyotes born under a brush pile in march

Was in the woods yesterday. Ran across a couple of spots that really stink after some critters came through and marked some trees. So its here or right around the corner.
