That pretty cool. That's a critter that I've always wanted to trap.

You would do fine trapping marten, pilgrim. Pretty cool!

Funny you sould mention marten. I caught a spotted skunk in a high elevation (3000') marten set once.

That is a KORO Rodent trap. The only traps we can use in WA are non-bodygripping traps. Those are defined as cage and box traps, suitcase type live beaver traps and common rat and mouse traps. Because the KORO Rodent trap is sold as a rat trap we have been able to use them and because they are a killing trap we are allowed a 72 hour check time as opposed to a 24 hour check time on a cage trap. It took me a while to figure out how to use them successfully but we are now using them on civets, marten, muskrat and mink. If not for that law I would be using #120s. I set the traps upside down in the box and the animal springs the trap with its back. Set right side up you get a lot of misses and live animals in the trap caught by their front feet.

Here is my set up for civets; 120's set on the perimeter of a beaver carcass with some ferns overhead to make them feel comfortable and to keep owls off of them after caught. They will circle the carcass incessantly so set up tight to the carcass never fails to get them.

In this picture I already pulled off most of the ferns so that you could see the skunks.
