There's several Peruvian restaurants, relatively near me, that serve guinea pig. I occasionally cull buy guinea pigs at $1.50 a pound, like I do rabbit. I bought a little over 84 pounds at once, once. I have not eaten guinea pig yet, but would.

You just aren't hungry enough yet. Can't be much different than squirrel or rabbit.

Big in South or Central America I think?

Restaurant here in town got popped a few years ago for selling guinea pig meat. Can't remember if they were raising them or just selling the meat.

You can find Cuy in the finest restaurants in Quito. There's not much meat on them but what's there is delicious.

On a side note, my dad was in the altiplano of Peru after the big earthquake of '72 on a relief mission. He took some pictures during a party at night in some peoples houses and after developing them back in the states the flash caught dozens of pairs of little eyes under beds and tables and such. Indigenous Peruvians raise them right in their living quarters free range.

I’d rather eat the American Guinea hog, more meat per bite.

Here is what I'd rather eat: The one in the middle in particular...about three times more meat than a big guinea pig with a fatty rind like a pig but sweet delicate meat like combo of pork or turkey. Sells for about $5/lb in Ecuador these days. Totally illegal of course.
