Anybody watch this anymore? I lost interest about mid way through last season. Haven't checked it out this year at all. I doubt they will ever find a treasure. I think that guy that lived there years ago on one of those lots already found it as he was poor and suddenly came into a lot of money.

They found the treasure..... its called viewers. Made them rich. Dig up a little wood once in awhile, plant a few old relics now and again, make thing as dramatic as you can and get rich.

It's nice to hear someone else thinking along the same lines as me.

It turned in an archeological project it’s amazing how much stuff people lose over time. I think the true treasure is the filming revenues that keep them going that big equipment and crew must cost a fortune in its self.

Here what i figured out..... if your going to hide treasure its not going to be done in a way that it takes a hundred or more workers months if not years to dig a hole to "hide" it in. Not much of a secret then..... along with a whole bunch of other unrealistic ideas about hiding treasure.

Not hard to look up the main guy's wealth before the show and what it is now. He's made enough money to have dug up the whole island and turn it upside down a dozen times if he really thought there was a treasure to find. Just does a little here and there for the drama.

Kind of like storage wars there’s often the totally out of place expensive find that magically appears to save the day.

From the first episode I watched I was skeptical about why and how a bunch of people would be able to bury a treasure 200 feet deep? Did they never hope to recover it? The water table had to be high enough that it would be impossible for them to work at that depth. The artifacts they find are interesting, but are some of them salted? I can't remember the name of the guy on that one lot that he had, but if there was a treasure I think he got it years ago.

Dave Hester was fired from the show because he said much of the weird or expensive finds were planted by the producers. Years later, he was rehired I think because viewers hated him because of his abrasive personality which made him popular.
I know a guy who buys storage units that have been abandoned. He said they are nothing like what you see on TV. The majority of the ones he sees are abandoned because the contents are junk.

I think the brothers and probably the producers have bought a good share of that island. They must have the way they have it so torn up. Can't imagine they would be allowed to do a lot of what they're doing if they didn't own a good share of it.

I'd rather watch paint dry than the Curse of OI or Not Finding Bigfoot.

At least if I watch Storage Wars I can oogle Brandy!

They have been buying up the island as fast a they can. They now run Oak Island tours you can go on. Was told the British really sign up for them, Supposedly they are booked most years and they make $1 million a year

I quite a bit of experience with a metal detector. I have worked with the NC State Archeologist on many very sensitive sites, metal detecting. I can tell you that if I waved a metal detector coil around like the two "experts" do I'd never find anything. Especially the female one that showed up a couple of years ago. If there are any metal objects where they have worked, 99% of them are still there. Way back the guy found a railroad spike and called it some kind of ship part. A few issues ago they showed up with half of a single barrel muzzle loading shotgun barrel, likely dating from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Before long It was declared to be a "hand cannon". There have been numerous fabrications of what an object that is found is called.

Is that an Equinox detector Gary D. uses on the show?
