Wondering if anyone would care to give up an easy state to kill deer? Does are fine. I see guys posting on here about killing double digits of deer a year, were lucky if the limit is over 1 here. Public land is mostly Orange here during deer season, chaos. It's not that it's hard to kill deer but we really can't kill a pile of them like some of you seem to. Private land is fairly tough to get on here unless you own or lease it.

Where can a guy go to stack up some deer? Used to go to Montana when doe tags were easy to come by, that's changed now.

In most of Ohio it is very easy to kill a limit of big deer.

Illinois, Nebraska and parts of Missouri have or had unlimited antlerless tags over the counter. Know a guy who shot 23 one year..with a bow

Why is it so important to you to kill a pile of deer?

Georgia has a lot of deer. 1.3 million. A lot of public land too with great hunting.

Here is the 2026 Deer Report just released by the National Deer Assn.

Very little public land. There is a program called Walk in Hunting. Landowners are paid a few dollars to allow public hunting. A lot of landowners lease hunting rights. They can get cheap over the counter tags too depending on how many acres they own. These tags can legally be sold to anyone they want to sell one too. Lots of acreages have been sold to people whose only reason for buying is to hunt it. Deer hunting here has become all about money. Antler hunters are a strange breed.

Any agricultural area in NY is pretty easy to fill tags on, although getting lots of tags as a nonresident could be difficult unless you have connections with a farm that has DMAP tags. Northern NY in the mountains is harder hunting. I am in Western NY farm country and I went hunting 3 times this year for a total of about 8 hours in the woods, and got a big bodied 8 pt and 2 big does. They are like rats around here and still I know people close by that hunt every year and never get anything. Of course they claim that there aren't any deer around. I think that they just don't know how to hunt.

Fellow just spent a million to buy the 141 acres on the back side of my farm just to hunt it. He is all about antlers. Nice enough guy I should benefit from his more restrictive hunting vs the old owner allowing many people to hunt and shoot anything and everything.

Between him and another guy that has 400 acres locked up on the other side of him should get some nicer bucke passing through during the rut.

Guy on the other side of him in in his 70s seems to think if he has a deer on camera it was his deer. Had a looking down his nose at my youngest boys buck being one he had on camera and one he would not shoot. A real jack wagon acting like that to a 13 year old boy about his biggest buck to date. This one. [Linked Image]

In PA you can only harvest one buck and it has to have three points on one side, or four point in the western counties near Ohio.

Non residents can get six doe tags from the PA Game Commission, more with the Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) program which helps private landowners manage the deer population by handing out coupons to hunters to kill doe.

The state has 1.5 million acres of public State Game Lands managed by the Game Commission that are dedicated to hunting and trapping.

There are and additional 2.2 million acres of State Forest and 300,000 acres of State Park land open to public hunting and trapping.

That's minimum of nearly 4 million acres of public land.

PA has a lot of hunters but also a pretty healthy deer population.

I kill most of my deer in the late season. By then most guys have either filled their tags or got the craps of it. The deer are no longer pressured and I am pretty much guaranteed to see some coming out of cover and heading for a snack before dark if I sit out an evening or two.

Eh...wot?
