Any pictures or diagrams on your anchoring systems for shallow creek beaver & otter footholds would be appreciated.

Just make sure there is zero entanglement!

Did PA outlaw 330 body grippers ?

No, they just need to be mostly submerged. I have one, just also like options.

Like others said, a 10 foot chain. I have 2 swivels on the end of my chain, so I can cross stake though. I don't trust a single stake in soft gooey mud or sand.

There are very few places in Pennsylvania where you can set a beaver trap on 10’ of chain with no entanglement.

I’ve tried it with 3-4’ of chain with success but admit it was a very small sample size.

Trap choice matters on long chains. Check out Billingsley videos about it on youtube. I have tried long chaining with the full size 750/85 sizes, and it has not gone well, even with zero entanglement. Thats about all I have on that one, don’t use big traps, do use what Billingsley says. I am gearing up right now with some of the traps he recommends for those occasions when I need to long chain, but I have very little experience with it at this point.

Edit: I see you are in PA. So if I recall that correctly and it is still the case you can not use bigger than 6-1/2” foot traps? But I would still listen to what Billingsley says and get the high jaw traps.

I use 10 feet of 1/8 cable. Sack of rocks at the end, staked with a 3/8 rerod t stake. I like the L shaped sliders. At the stake end, I have a 6 foot piece of 3/32 cable attached, with my trap tag in a loop at the end. The 3/32 cable really helps to locate your rig when high water hits. It also acts as a back up anchor if a beaver pulled the stake ( hasn’t happened, yet )

10ft of cable earth anchors and number 3 bridger with 5lbs of pan tension will hold them even the big ones. Front or back foot doesnt make any difference.[Linked Image]

How long are your rebar stakes?

I've been trying 18" oak 1x2 stakes in soft muddy soil and they seem to grab better than rebar.
