I made a soda bread to have with stew, I didn’t take a pic of the stew but here’s the bread, and I cooked it on the stove top as the oven is on the fritz.

I never said that. That's a southern thing, they like flavorless cornmeal. They use it to bread fish and make grits and mush and all that bland crap. lol

I like grits but I put enough cheese in it you really can’t taste the corn meal.

I've never understood the Southern love of grits. I've only had a bite of them twice and the last time was in 2001.

I don't like any type of cereal either.

I like cornbread with honey.

4 cups of flour
3 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of buttermilk
1 large egg beaten
Preheat oven to 375
Combine dry ingredients leave a well in the middle and pour in the buttermilk and egg and mix until blended it’s sticky but will look kinda runny.
Then put in a 9 inch skillet and cut a 1/2 inch cut in the top and bake for about an hour or until it has a hollow sound when hit.
Then allow to cool for 30 minutes before cutting.

Now I ended up cooking it on the stove top, I used a 3.5 quart enamel cast iron round casserole heavily greased with butter on medium low heat, I poured the batter in the pan when it was just warm enough to melt the butter, I waited about 15 minutes and the first side got a little dark but when it was hard enough to flip it should be flipped then and left for 10 minutes and continue to turn until it hits around 200 internally it will also sound hollow, I only had to flip it twice.
