Side note....the wife said eggs were 1.09 at the local store, now if Beef would come down some we'd be back to normal.

Around here some places, mostly Sunoco's, have been around $2.95 for a couple of months. Other places like WaWa are staying as high as $3.29.

Don't know about the cost of store-bought eggs, we grow our own. LOL

Our chickens stopped laying a couple of weeks ago (have since started back up) and we had to buy some from a local farmer. They were nice big eggs but cost $4.00 a dozen.

Raising chickens for eggs is way more expensive than store bought.

Ours was $2.26 then shot up to 2.89 and has been dropping each day. Yesterday it was 2.59. Typical cycle that happens here.

That's what everybody says. But in reality, once you've kept chickens for decades most of the initial cost has paid for itself, the coop, the fencing, etc.

Ongoing costs for us are food, about 80 pounds a month at about $27.00, some electricity to light the coop and keep the water fount from freezing and the cost of the chickens themselves. We buy 10-12 chicks every two years at a cost of $30-$40.

We usually get 12-15 dozen eggs a month. If I go by what we just paid for farm-raised eggs ($4.00 per dozen) that's $48-$60 worth of eggs each month and that is more than it costs us to keep them

I won't buy store eggs. Once you've had good homegrown eggs you'll never want another pale, watery store egg again.

Eh...wot?

I had chickens for over 40 years, finally gave them up a few years ago....been buying since, commercial eggs are cheap, usually, some are better quality than others but unless you're free ranging your own, not enough difference to matter in my opinion...as always...YMMV, lol

The Amish still charge $3.00.

Big eggs, barely fit in the carton. Sometimes a double yolk as a bonus.

Keep in mind, low prices breed high prices. Drilling activity is very low. Demand is steadily increasing. OPEC still wants 80+ per barrel and as soon as market conditions allow, they will get it.
