Been with ATT for like 20 years but thinking about switching to save some cash. We are currently paying $35.68/line for a total of $71.36 for our two lines. If we pay the full 12 months on the front end it's $15/mo per line and we would save $492 this first year. Going forward after the first 12 months it would be $30/mo per line and we would save $136/year if we stuck with the unlimited, but they have a 20GB/mo plan which would be plenty for my wife and me most of the time and we'd save an extra $120/year. That would be $256/year savings, which isn't earth shattering, but it all adds up! Best I can tell the coverage map mirrors that of ATT in my area so our local coverage wouldn't change much at all. Mint runs on the T-mobile network, but in my experience it's pretty much like the ATT coverage.

Anyone on here have or had Mint mobile? Any thoughts good/bad/otherwise? Any other discount cellular providers ya'll highly recommend at all?

Thanks for any input! Happy trapping! ScottW

I shopped around five years ago. I went with Tmobile b/c they were supposed to be great and had 30 days to return. Their signal didn't work so good where I stomp around at so they got all their stuff back and were with Verizon now. Were in an area where a small town near us you may or may not have signal. I went with the one that kinda worked in those areas where the others wouldn't work at all. Anyway my suggestion is to try the one you want to try on a 30 day money back guarantee if they have it. Then go see if it works at your trapping cabin or not. We have unlimited data and text. I wouldn't want limits for that. It would be ok if it just slows down some. Anyway good luck.

There's several low cost providers, usually come in around 20/25 bucks a month..
Mike Rowe is currently shilling for pure talk, and there's others.... Doesn't seem to matter anymore, all the service is spotty depending where you are...they all claim to using the same towers as the big boys.
I'm currently on my wifes T mobile, the second line is cheap, but I'm thinking about switching to ....

Haven't pulled that trigger yet...

Coverage maps don’t always tell the whole story. The discount plans are the first to get slowed or shut down during peak hours even though they are on the same towers. I’d recommend finding someone in your area who has the service you’re looking at and ask them how they like it.

Switching back can be a pain. I know people who were not happy with new discount plans that couldn’t get their old number when they went to switch back to previous provider.

Just some stuff to consider.

I had Mint, and it was ok at first, but then I had a bunch of issues later on. At first, internet was unreliable in the evenings, then at almost any time of day. Then making and receiving calls became a problem too. I was still able to text, but couldn't resolve the internet and calling problems... I dropped them soon after, and they refunded me. Got a new carrier, and haven't had any issues

Do some research a lot of the smaller providers are connected to the larger ones like consumer cellular is the same as ATT.

I’ve had US Mobile for coming up on a year now. Got tired of paying out the nose for Verizon. I selected th Verizon tower option and haven’t had any issues. Would highly recommend it to anyone so far
