When/who started the buying milk and bread before a winter storm. Around here they apparently have added butter to the list of things to hoard before a winter storm.

I never understood the toilet paper panic. We have enough old t shirts and socks that things would be okay There's enough roaming neighborhood cats where I live that I'd be okay too.

If it gets icy down south that’s always entraining watching them try to drive down there. The more gas you give the vehicle the less it goes where you want to go.

There are multiple levels of "prepping", but it has long been my contention that it is the civic duty of all of us to be able to ride out at least a week of adversity, be it a natural or man made disaster. An ice storm event should not be cause for concern. Just hole up at home and wait it out.
A box of powdered milk, sack of flour and some yeast or baking powder and it's all good. A case of TP from Sam's and when you open that one you buy another to back it up. A full hot water heater has 40 to 50 gallons of drinking water, if you don't waste it. A bath tub full of water will run you a long time too.
Losing power would be the biggest issue........so every house ought to have a secondary means of heat that does not require electricity to run. Enough to keep pipes from freezing. Lacking that, a generator with enough fuel to last at least a week running 24/7.
The other one I find silly is the run on plywood every time the wind blows. Houses in hurricane areas ought to come supplied with plywood for the windows......or storm shutters. Real, working storm shutters.
Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

As I pointed out on another forum, bread, eggs and butter have pretty long shelf lives. Unless it's bread you make yourself or from the bakery it will last a month or more before going bad. Butter can be left on the counter. Eggs might get old but they really don't have to be refrigerated unless they're washed.

I guess milk and bread are the food items folks use the most. They don't want to be snowbound without them.
My wife and I are empty-nesters so no extra mouths to feed anymore. We don't eat much bread and I'm the only one who drinks milk.
They are calling for 12-16 inches in my area Sunday. We're good, no panic buying. LOL
Eh...wot?
