Well, Jerry, and several hundred other trappers better up your game if you think the entire lower 48 could have any chance of flooding the marten market. I know one trapper in Southeast Alaska that sends in 400-500 per year, every year. One guy.

Do Alaska marten compete with lower 48 marten? Supposed to be a noticeable difference. I don't know if the marten market is " hot", but local buyer here in Fairbanks is paying close to a hundred bucks, top.

Atta boy Jerry and atta girl Cathryn. You two got it going on. Hope you get top dollar for the Marten. I usually trap a mix bag of fur. That way I always got some skin in the game. Also because something in me just has to trap to be whole. Take care and keep on keepin' on.

I'm not sure if it is hot either? Not like I haven't sold marten for over a Hundred many times before. What was a hundred dollars worth in 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013( $200) 2017? Snowmachines sure weren't 12.000 to 15,000 dollars new back then.

I got no problem with Cathryn braggin on her man a bit. They're a dynamic duo. Used to be lots of folks like them making side incomes off the land...not much anymore when the government is looking for ways to help you be lazy.

By chance, I've trapped marten in both Wyoming and Alaska. Big difference in fur quality between the two. I remember how disappointed I was when my Wyoming marten sold at auction. Those marten were December caught and during that fur market period brought what a good buck mink brought $20-$25. When I trapped some AK interior marten and compared them to tanned Wyoming marten, there was no comparison.

Both Jerry and Cathryn are some of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. She's not saying things to brag or boast; she's just proud of Jerry and all that he can and does do. Together they make a great team, even if she does pick on him most of the time.

Hate to say it but that was back when a hundred dollars almost meant something. Price of gold in 2006 was around 600 dollars.

I'd like to see the spread sheet of income and expense on 76 marten caught 1500 miles one way from home.
