Im lookin to try and make my own bait next year and got questions. One being is there a difference in ground and chunk bait as far as one being better than the other for bait use? The other one is can you use frsh meat in these bait mixes or is it better to let it ripen a little first?

I would try some in chunk form and some ground up. Try some fresh meat and some tainted with the bait solution you want to use. You may get a good response with one early and a better response later with the other. Test test and test some more. Good luck to ya.

Ground is better for a couple of reasons.

Allows better absorption of other ingredients and is just easier to worry with.

I can smear a ground paste bait on something. Make it harder to get at. Can’t do that with a chunk.

Depends on the reaction you are wanting. Also depends on what you are baiting, but I'm assuming coyotes. Different taints get different reactions at different times. But if you are looking for a rolling reaction there usually isn't such as thing as too much taint.
