I’ve had guys here from Wisconsin delivering feed bunks and they wonder in (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) froze over, so I’m thinking Iowan’s are just tougher than the rest.

You are of course correct, Bob! grin

"120 hours of below freezing temps and everyone is acting like it's the end times, lol."

It must be a sight to see. I hope it doesn't get too crazy down there.

… we got rain all day tomorrow then dropping into the teens.. I got a propane delivery yesterday.. ordered it Monday when I saw the forecast go downhill…. They usually fill it on the order date lol

…. Got wood for the fireplace … going to drain the pipes and well tomorrow

…. I’ve asked a few times … but still don’t understand how the yanks keep their pipes from freezing when it’s negative for months on end lol

We got 70 inches of snow ( not kidding) on the tug hill here in New York this week. I finished my snow from today around 4 this afternoon, put the tractor away, and hopped in the truck for a ride. I bet 90% of my neighbors were cleaned up too. I guess it's what your used to and prepared for.

It's called insulation and burying them deep.

Typical bury on a water line in a road is 8 ft. 8 ft out of a road is a good idea as well.

I think it's easier to heat a house at 30 below than it is to cool one at 95 degrees. Put in some insulation in.

It's not hard to keep things from freezing even easier at the temps you guys may encounter. Doesn't cost much to any extra on a new build. Easy to solve on an old build.

Nessie, I'm west of the Mississippi, no one calls it aspen around here.

All things considered I'm only 80 miles west of the Headwaters lol.

They are deep in the ground where they enter the house where it's heated. Sometimes a drafty basement will get cold enough to freeze them though. There are some houses with unheated crawl spaces under the house, those pipes are wrapped in electrical heat tape and insulated.

We have a drilled well..with a casing.

And the line going from the well to the house ..is buried 4 feet

Below the surface.

And yes...a hole is still in the foundation to run the pipe in the basement ...to the water tank.

On them -25 days ...you might leave the cabinet door undah the sink open

To let some heat in.

Other than insulation and foam pipe coverings ...that about it.
