Back in the olden days lol When I was single I lived in an upstairs apartment. 1st year the pipes froze.just opened the kitchen cabnet doors under the sink and they thawed. After that I let the cold water faucet drip. No more problems.
BTW its -7 nere now. Unheated basement all plumbing there. Outdoor pipes 4' deep. Rural water No problems.
just

BTW its -12 in Minneapolis lol

yes piped in. we had a propane tank at our old house. And an old converted coal furnace. Power was out for days once but even though the fan would run, the furnace put out enough heat to keep everything from freezing.

Savelll is right Texas is nice but the ifasructer isn’t set up for it. Lived there for 2 winters a little ice storm shut down Dallas with rolling black outs for 3 days. People were freaking out. I went out and drove around wasn’t a car on the roads. Ice Wasn’t anything worse than I had seen up north. Just another winter day up here.

I have oil fired furnace...with forced hot water..base board heating.

All copper pipe in the basement and copper pipe running to the second floor base boards

And if we lose power..I can still make coffee in the morning ....with the propane cook stove.

But no generator here...living dangerously..

Under ground?

Copper or pex.

Bury it deep, here 8 ft is a good idea.

Different building codes in those colder areas

Yes sir… it’s under ground… it’ll bust at the well or in the attic

… have to drain everything from the well to the faucets to get the water out when it’s under freezing for a few hours or they’ll bust

… shoot even had one pvc elbow bust even after doing all that a couple years ago

So your outlet at the well is above grade? If so build a little structure over it, use an electric heater to keep it warm. Here we call them well house heaters or milk house heaters. Doesnt take much, even less in your part of the world. Turn it on when you need it.

The attic? Blow in some more insulation. Helps with cooling as well
.
I heat with propane, According to my electric bill it uses about the same amount of electricity to heat my house at 25 below as it does to try and keep it cool at 90 95.
