We don’t have badgers here in PA, but if you do post your catches & where you’re from. I know they’re rarely sought after but I think they are cool as a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)

We don't see many down here but when I lived up in Kansas I'd catch a few.

I lived in Colorado, Illinois & Arizona and one of my biggest regrets is not making enough time in my early twenties to actually trap & hunt like I always wanted to if I made it west as a kid

I used to target them heavy in the spring. I sold seven at NAFA for a $70 average one year. They are easy to catch if you are where they are. I have caught them in about every type trap and set other then a DP.

A bunch in my county and snow goes a long way in locating them as the “oh look a hole” is very hit and miss them things will dig a hole in the road just to take a nap I believe. With snow it’s increases your chances of finding a active hole, without snow it can become whack a mole 10-15 holes to pick from.

Once the wife gets up I’ll get on the PC and dig up some other photos.

Got a lot of them here. Can’t really trap coyotes without catching a few. You can target them here too.
I enjoy catching them and nothing makes a big old pile of dirt and a remake with more eye appeal for coyote catches than a badger catch. I always liked catching them their remakes got better and better for a lot of other critters.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Great thread. I think they’re amazing and their fur is exquisite. What are they worth in the fur market??

Depends on the end products use, color and time caught I’d say most badgers are not fully primed if you look at a primeness chart they are at the far end of the chart but nice ones still get caught at times.

They are very misunderstood and just need a little hug. eek

I've bought quite a few very nice ones from people on here as well as catching my own, finally have enough to make a coat out of them I have wanted to do for years, getting enough close to the same color was the hold up

I've always paid very well for them they are well worth the price to me for my coat work ! I would never turn one down as they make great fur hats as well !!

The diggers I've caught have all been in November/ early Dec but supposedly their fur is best in the late winter.

I've always wanted to run a Feb road line for badgers but never had but maybe this is the year. As Law Dog as stated, they can dig a lot of holes along township gravel rows and setting on fresh digs can be as stated "whack a mole" but I have caught some that way.

I still have several patches of "specialty" corn I'm hand picking north of me so maybe I'll do that Feb run. If I have to buy another overall license after Jan 31, I might as well use it besides ice fishing wink in the next month or so.

If I was going to target badger and wanted them as good as they would ever be, I would say mid February till Mid March here in ND. I have skinned them from November through into April. But the further you get from mid February through mid March them more flat and rubbed you will have.

As stated, they love coyote sets! Beautiful animal, especially at the right time of year.
