I do basically the same cuts in the video only I step on tail to pull. If you skin and dress them right while their warm. They skin way easier and cool faster. Just how I was taught years ago .

I Make a cut at the base of the tail then stand on the tail and pull the squirell towards me by the back legs and cut around the ankles. Ya end up with the hide around the head to either skin the head out or cut it off.
Same way i skin a rat.

I just got one of these. I have always stepped on the tail and pulled them like most everybody else.

I make the same cut on base of tail but I mounted a piece of angle on a 4 inch post and put a pair of vise grips on the angle and clamp that to tail better than bending over the older we get

I think you do it the way I do it. I make a cut in the back and work it tell I get my knife in and cut the skin around the middle. Then pull the pajamas off one way and the jacket off the other, cut the feet off at joints and the head and tail with some scissor shears. Then just zip it open and take the gutts out. I tried other ways and I never liked the results.such as you pull up and the gutts pop out or the tail pulls off etc… I have done many squirrels this way and still do it may take a little longer but the end results are worth it to me.

A pair of lineman’s pliers helps pulling the skin and cut the feet off I cut the tail also
Those lineman’s pliers I just started using because of arthritis in my hands and they snip off those feet like butter

We cut head , feet ,and tails off first , then slit skin on back and pull off both ends. Then gut 'em. Easiest way I've ever found.

Only thing I would do different, is carry Ziplock bags, and skin as soon as they hit the ground.
Skin in less than a couple minutes , cold squirrel is like skinning a coyote!

You'd think all these trappers would be doing it that way. They skin muskrats, little mink, weasels, etc.. for near the same money.
