Can you buy a tarp like weed barrier that comes in at like a 20x20 or 20x40. The plan is to put in raised beds and mulch around them. I know you can buy smaller width barriers but I'd like to knock it out in one shot. Tarp of plastic wont work because of the water build up in really rainy season. Need something that will drain. Thanks

I just buy the 6ft wide stuff and overlap it.use the landscape staples and/or lay boards or scrap metal rods at the seams so the wind can't get underneath it works for me.

In a raised bed, any ground cover that lets the rain pass through it should work just fine.
A ground level garden will hold the water like you described .
Be very careful where you buy from, China has a lot of scams dealing with ground covers.
VENOR seems to have different types and sizes, just be careful it's not from China.
I like my raised beds to be no more than 3 feet wide.
Easier to tend from either side, plus I believe in not walking in the bed.
Kind of like many plants grow in a woods that has some sun reach the soil.
It's never tilled, and the plants grow just fine.
I also like to add about 2 inches of compost to the bed each spring, as they do settle about that much.

I see you live in Maine, are you near any papermills by chance. If you know anyone that works at a papermill and can get you used press felt it works well, drains and will last forever and best of all it is usually free. They are the width of the machine, older machines may be as narrow as 10 feet but newer machines are often 20 feet or more wide.
