One thing this thread does for sure is highlight partisanship. Cognitive Rigidity, polarized reality, altered perception, etc etc etc, all of the neuroscience things that happen with partisanship are on full display here.

And some mental gymnastics are too . “Don’t be bringing guns to a protest” …”but Kyje Rittenhouse is a hero for bringing guns to a protest”. Lol. Etc etc

And are we not even smart enough to research? “I doubt Minnesota has an open carry law” even though they do and that poster lives reasonably close and could actually look it up but they debate with “ I doubt” lol

This site is cooked; poor Paul. Lol

NO!!! Good grief you prove the drama queen theory with regularity.

As it stands NOW, having ID on your person is the price to pay for carrying a firearm on your side. It's a concealed carry license. That is THE LAW!! If you violate the law, you get reprimanded in some form. I have no idea what MN carry laws are so I will make no comment on that subject. MN residents can inform us on that.

As a citizen, if you don't like the law you can give redress to the government for changing the law. I have gotten a trapping law changed in my county. It isn't hard but it does take political strategy.

That, and maybe stop glamorizing cannibalism. A former President who beat medicare had an uncle who got ate by cannibals. Not hyperbole!

You're comparing apples and oranges:

Kyle Rittenhouse was on private property WITH the owners permission, protecting that private property. . He was not in a public place.
Kyle Rittenhouse WAS NOT interfering with law enforcement officers going bout their legal duties.

In his case the legality of a concealed piece was not in question nor was it the basis of an investigative stop and it was also not a federal matter. Where it matters is that he placed himself into a federal operation and confronted federal officers while armed apparently without announcing that he was armed just for it to be discovered during the altercation and the unfortunate and almost predictable results.

I have read a lot of things saying he was in a parking lot. This business front seems similar. I agree he wasn’t interfering with LE however the point is more for the “don’t bring a gun to a protest” people. There is zero reality when you’re not obsessed with political ideology that this thing that happened was OK.

You go carrying a gun without any real intent to use it and someone will make you eat it or kill you for carrying it. lol

A peaceful protest, no problem. A violent protest, very risky and asking for trouble.

It comes down to are you going to the protest to look for trouble. If so, there is always plenty to go around. Anyone with a desire to live, would not go into a situation, that is amped up and non peaceful, armed and outnumbered. Suicide. This protest is not beneficial to the US. We have leftists, communists and anarchists who simply want to cause trouble and fight to keep law breakers and illegal aliens in this country. For the life of me, I don't understand that point of view.

Here is what AI says about MN open/concealed carry.

Open carry of firearms is legal in Minnesota, but certain conditions apply. Individuals must be at least 18 years old and not prohibited from possessing firearms due to criminal history or other factors. While a permit is not required for open carry, having a valid Permit to Carry a Pistol allows for both open and concealed carry without stipulation on concealment. However, there are restrictions on where firearms can be carried, and individuals should be aware of specific locations where open carry is prohibited. Recent changes in Minnesota's gun laws have also introduced new regulations, including background checks for most gun sales

And Minneapolis.

Minneapolis requires a permit to carry for both open carry and concealed carry of pistols in public. Unlike constitutional carry states, you cannot legally carry a handgun openly or concealed in Minneapolis without a valid Minnesota permit to carry or recognized out-of-state permit.

And here is the wiki on Kyle Rittenhouse. Much different reasoning but still went to a violent protest area armed. Too much trouble there.

Try that in NY state. One year mandatory jail with a spotless police record. Charged with felony , loss of gun rights for life.

It is very tragic for any person to lose their life, but he went looking for trouble and trouble found him. His death is a direct result of his choice to get involved in something that was illegal from the start. I hate it for his entire family, but the only one to blame for his death is him. His political ideology is what got him killed and that is not OK. Any citizen should be zealously thankful for their citizenship in the US and expect all others coming in to have to follow the laws set forth to become a citizen.

He got killed LARPing, same as the chick at the so called capital riots. Both were tragedies for the deceased and the person pulling the trigger. Sad part is the people who benefit from the events sit in their ivory towers.

Me, I'm not getting killed in either instance. I don't put myself into harms way.

It aint time yet.
