She's the granddaughter of a deceased trapper and former Tman member. And she passed the boss's screening. I doubt she's an anti.

Eh...wot?

That's a hard question. Sometimes as we get older it seems too much like work. But I think what keeps me going back is the surprises. You just don't know what will happen on a trapline. Sometimes I get as much enjoyment out of seeing tracks and checking out what the animal does, as I do catching stuff.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

For me it’s a million things. Taking kids for there first time setting, trying to outsmart a crafty old coyote, getting a bobcat to step exactly where I tell him, seeing a mink at the edge of a culvert, the smile on someone’s face I have taken after there first catch. It’s everything about it to me! Even when I catch myself(don’t like that part) but the release is awesome!

Glad she passed screening; I too was suspicious…..

Just being outside in cool weather and harvesting another resource. I love the beauty of real fur.

Setting for wolf. Just analyze everything and let them be the teachers. I get so involved with my surroundings that nothing else matters and I forget everything on my mind except the bush, and the wolves. I sometimes even forget where I am. -40 with my gauntlets off and just my leather gloves on for setting and for some reason my hands don’t freeze for over an hour of fooling around.

I’ll say it. Killing critters that people dream of.

58 years old and still playing in the dirt and can't stay out of the water !

As mentioned earlier. The anticipation of the next days catch is a big one for me.
But I love being out there scouting, studying what target animals are doing and where they're going. Checking out new property, both private and public. Find out what's there and coming up with a plan to catch it.
Doing my best to lure target animals into my sets and enjoying my successes when I connect. And learning what I need to do differently when I don't connect.
I am very happy out there and find a lot of peace in being out on my small line

There's no many things I love about trapping to list.

And I can't forget this one.
Watching my wife hold her nose and listening to her squeal when I come in the house smelling like bait, lure, dead critters, occasionally a little skunk essence. Hehehehehe. Makes me smile every time !
