I don't because my otter sets are either body grip traps or foothold on a drowner. If I set a dryland foothold for one I can see where they would be helpful.

I have seen shock springs used on #1 double long spring traps when trapping otter for the live market reintroduction programs.

2 coil MB 550 os with conners shock spring. The otter wasn’t the intended catch but everything was good.

I would be more concerned with swivels as those jokers spin, but I can see where a spring might help.
