My father raised us boys with the you broke it you fix it, or go without. I know I have said here before that once I own something. Its no longer under warranty or factory recall. If broken or needs fixed I will try to make any repairs I can myself.
Wife's been doing more baking again as of late. Said can you get the big kitchen Aid Mixer looked at.
She actually hasn't used it for few years because had oil leaking out. Which l learned once got into it. Is actually the grease breaking down leaking.
So I looked at couple YouTube video's. Ive learned you need to watch at least a couple videos. Make sure you watching someone actually done more that once what your going to try. Not watching someone like myself just rip into something. Start prying on that piece still got one screw you didn't know was hidden.
Anyways I still took pictures as I took the Mixer apart. Actually took it farther apart than needed to . The pictures did come in hand mainly making sure the wiring was right.
I did order gaskets and grease from a Mixer guy. Mostly to make sure I had right things. I know now I could have made those gaskets myself. Next time.
Here's what the mess looked. Patient survived and is back running order
Anyone else ever tear one of these down?
My daughter and a friend's wife want theirs done now.

I actually used some carburetor cleaner on the gears.
Cleaned up new food grade grease packed in where needed.

Yea, I did that. Not exactly easy to do. I think the grease wore out in mine from using the meat grinder attachment.

Looks like it has a million more mixes left in it now.

It's amazing what a little bit of preventative maintenance makes in the life of things.

that looks good

there is a youtube guy that goes by MR Mixer that has detailed videos on it and he also sells parts and has a repair shop.

I had to replace worm gears years ago and they were a pain to find before the internet had as many sites that sold stuff , I think that was around 2007

probably tell them you need tube of grease and a bottle of whatever you drink or a case if it's beer and if it is just coffee 2#

you can probably keep real busy with all the mixers you are going to see

Good stuff.

I have done this before but not until I had to order a couple new gears from Amazon. Youtube has some good videos showing the whole process too. That's how I figured out how to fix our mixer.

Yeah if I wanted to be honest the using the grinder attachment contributed to this one needing done.
I only used it one fall on small batch sausage knew was to hard on it. My son bought a cabeles grinder and little later buddy gave me a old commercial grinder.

Pete the Mr. Mixer guy is who's videos I watched. I also ordered the grease and gaskets from them too. Called talked to them. Could have got things cheaper on Amazon. But I figured hey give the man some business.

If I do my daughter for her I will probably just buy good food grade grease. I have stuff here I can make the gaskets with. Made lots of them years ago when wasn't a parts house every mile down road.
Here's one only old timers would know.
Used to get bike parts and BBs for air gun shotgun shells. Other hardware stuff at Western Auto. Name long gone.

Ours started leaking the lubricant. The Kitchen Aid folks said to run it on high for two minutes and it should stop. I did it, and it hasn't leaked since. They say the grease just needed to be warmed up and remixed.
