I bet he comes out better than anyone in Minnesota. You can't afford to start your truck for 2 marten. I can lol.

The latest sale in Russia seems to be double last years price. Double last years price for marten. That will be around $150 average if it happens.
P.S. The ruble has gain 20% against the dollar, so some of the increase may be related to exchange rates.

Those poor marten of Jerry's just went to $ 150 usd Could you post a reference for that number, North? refer to Tatiana post today Average price was 300USD$ from last years 100$, so Jerrys last years 75$ skins should be actually $ 225 this year. I hate new math....

We base what he sells his Marten on western sales. Last year the Idaho sale averaged right around 50. He got 45 and count em on his..all in. No commission. This year with the Idaho sale a couple weeks ago averaging ( not blackfoot id) 83. And with the market rising heist will.sell.for.75 at least and while they won't reach 150..in my opinion 100 straight on them.isnt out of the question if the market continues to rise.
The 300 Russian sable will help to bring the price of all sections of marten to.go up.
It's like any other fur market..for example..as the western cat prices go up..the other sections of cats will also rise in price. The overall catch of Marten will go up across the board next year as people try to capitalize on the market.
This year there were 2 other trappers trapping where Jerry traps..one quit 3 days after he got there and the other one wasn't too serious about it.
He'll just trap harder and smarter if competition shows up.
Im confidant he'll hold his own cause he'll go harder, farther and longer than 90% of the other guys out there.
The best hes ever done in a fur season..all fur in was he caught enough to buy a new Nissan out right..cash out the door..he's done that twice actually.
Sometimes the buyers that contact him have an order for a specific number of pelts and his hides have actually brought more than the high averages on the sales because buyers want the full number or hides so they'll pay more for the ones they need to fill out there orders.
Quite frankly right now, It's a sellers market on the Marten so he'll do well.
Better in fact than he figured when he made the trip west.
The trick is to know when to hold em and know when to sell em..
im a gambler..I dont mind waiting to make the deal because this year's catch is pretty much done across the country and according to the interest I've been getting about his marten, the money will be there.
Right now..if we sold em now.,which we aren't, wed want..and more than likely get, 75 straight on them.
IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

Never good to encourage competition to show up. The pie is only so big and the slices will get smaller.

Marten trapping friend says Fairbanks fur buyer is paying 100 male, 80 female. I wonder if a lower 48 trapper could send his marten up here and get that price? Back when nutria prices were great we were averaging $12-13 for northwest nutrias. Heard tell of some Lousiana nutes sent over and got nose counted into the good Oregon ones. At the time those nutes (Lousiana) were $3-4 tops I think.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
