I called ahead yesterday and was told 90% spot value. I drove about 100 miles and took my silver in to the shop today. No testing as it was stamped .999 and JM silver. No SS#. Scanned my I.D. Sold one gold coin for melt value of 93% spot. Cash money.

Silver was $100 per ounce sold for.

Thanks

Wouldn’t your ID be connected to your SS#?

Could of you refused to show your ID?

didn’t do any type of test,,, going only on a stamp,,, that’s a brave buyer

Tells me the market is extremely frothy,, which is understandable,,, considering how much it has risen

There’s got to be a lot of shenanigans going on

I've never sold in large amounts; maybe 5 rounds here, 2 or 3 there.

They have never tested any of my rounds but I haven't sold any since it was in the $50+ range.

No ID shown. Just the transaction, with cash in hand when I left the store.

I think I've sold in three different places in the city but now only go to one.

The I.D. was required so the buyer could record the transaction for his business purposes. It may be a State requirement or just easier than writing it manually. The scan was used to generate a receipt with my information on it. No SS# on Drivers license. No 1099 will be issued.

Hate to see collectable coins being melted down. Is 10% below spot the going price selling?

I’ve always thought that no KYC (Know your customer) laws,,with precious metals was a major selling point

Not sure if that’s still the case,,,, that’s why I asked

I.D. seems to be required by State and Federal law for dealers.

What does that even look like?

Of course gold won't stay static, so say 500 dollar silber and 7500 gold? What does society look like then? Where are we going to sell our silver? The local coin shops won't have the money. I suppose the market will figure it out, it will be a paradigm shift.

At what point does manufacturing say enough is enough and find an alternative? Then what?

Silver has seen 15 to 1 once and that was during the Hunt Bros attempt to take down the silver market. It saw 17 to 1 right before Nixon took us off the gold window, that ratio only happened because the price of gold was fixed and silver wasn't.

I only see one window for a 15 to 1 and that is the world transitions away from fiat currency.

I also see a 20 or 30 percent correction coming, all bull markets have them. At what level will it be is the question and how will it go after that.
Anyhow it's all good if one is in the game.

there is NO ALTERNATIVE for silver

50 + years of trapping & some fur buying and i still know nothing.

1 oz silver NTA rounds is approximately $116 melt value

Silver dimes whether they're Mercs or Rosie's, $8.24. Silver quarters 20.62, half dollars 41.24 each. That's melt. value.

Thanks Steven 49er. So no value on the old nickels and wheat pennies? I thought I saw on this thread where old nickels had some silver in them but I may have read it wrong. Wheat pennies no copper value?

Nickels and pennies currently cannot be melted by Federal law. If I remember right world war II nickels have silver in them. Like the pennies were steel.

I'm guessing some profit-taking, but it looks like the appetite is still there; headed back up.

Either profit taking or a coordinated effort to take it down or flush weak hands. Shanghai closed at over 130 last night. It's back to $115.72

Lance, there could be some value in certain nickels or pennies. The numismatic stuff is out of my wheel house.

"War" nickels are 35 percent silver. They were minted between 1942 and 1945 and have an enlarged mint mark on them. Melt value is $6.41. There is a market for them but you won't get melt, I'd wager maybe 60 percent of you can find a buyer.
