I've made a bunch of those. I never like the burnt hair smell when cutting or sanding antler.

Its actually fairly toxic too. Not just the dust, but the gas also.

I smell a lot of burning junk at work when we use the cautery unit for mass removals. It’s sickening

I used to hate that smell too.It reminded me of the drill, going into your tooth at the dentist and you could smell it.

But now I embrace it.
