They are still fun to find looking at your change (if you still get any). I look at all my old U.S. nickels for those years.

All the 1981 (and yeah, I know most 1982 but I'm not going to weigh each of them out) and older 95% Cu pennies get taken out of circulation for me. I know they can't be turned in for copper scrap as of yet but I suspect that day is coming. And perhaps not too soon (or maybe before I die wink

And in your change, how often do you find what you’re looking for?

Seen some guy harvesting gold from circuit boards. If true took 450lb to harvest 1oz gold plus much work and cemicals.

I’m curious to see where the bottom is as well…my silver miners are correcting hard. I probably should have taken some profits. On the bright side buying opportunities will present themselves. My thesis on investing in the sector hasn’t changed.

Markets will over react to silver dropping. If prices stay at even say 75 dollars an ounce, miner stock prices are a bargain.

Steven 49er,

I don't have the NTA Coins on me now but I believe they are all stamped with .999

I'll check into this later.

Finding war nickels in my change..? Not very often but more common than an Indian head penny wink .

I think a U.S. nickel is the least "silver" colored U.S. currency currently out there beside a half dollar so if a person kicks out the newer, non traditional Jefferson nickels, the older ones in my change can get seen pretty quick. Fairly similar as the 95% Cu penny. Fewer and fewer of those out there in change. Wait until they outlaw the use of U.S. one cent coins, its coming just like it happened in Canada (I save old 95% Cu Can pennies as well).

So consider me paranoid or a conspiracy nut (is there a difference?) but could the wild ride of silver both up and perhaps now down be just a dual pronged attempt to:

1) Gather in as much "in the country" physical silver as possible to help prop up the Wall Street/banksters trading paper silver and getting upside down on it

AND THEN

2) Hammer as many "independent" shops "out in the country" as possible so there are fewer and fewer local buyers that aren't owned by the "blessed" big guys who can then get more control of how physical silver is bought and sold us common folks..?

Any shop that bought .999 physical at $95 to $100+ this week I suspect are holding their breaths now. How long they can hold their breaths sort of depends on how deep their pockets are before they give up. The survivors will probably be like the Chinese buyers of North American coon fur after the first 2013 NAFA auction. Pledge to never get "burned" again.

I think most buyers were turning it over and making their 5 to 10% of 70-100 dollars instead of the old 5 to 10% of $30.

I had to jump on the wagon today to see about this wild ride. I had a silver coin and some random pieces of inherited jewelry that neither my wife or daughters liked so it had just been collecting dust. Walked out with a little more cash in my pocket than what I thought I was going to, even though yesterday would have been better! LOL Sold it to a cool, older jeweler. He asked if I had relatives from Germany? I said yes most of my Great-Great Grandparents. He said well this gold pendant cross off of a necklace was made there back in the 1880s. I kept that one for nostalgia sake, he said yea that is a good piece of history to pass down to the next generation.

This is going to close some shops.

Word on the street is that big refiners have stopped taking silver completely.

It will be interesting if this dip will really bring out the retail buyers. I hope so for the sake of the local dealers.

We will see what happens, like I've said, it closed at 123 on the Shanghai physical market. Sunday night will tell the tale.

I don't follow the other side of the world precious metal markets. Why Saturday night (and what Saturday night, China or here?)?
