Make sure rat boards arent one piece as they warp. Making rat boards in two or three pieces keeps board from warping.

Thanks guys,,, my internet has been down, so I have not been able to get on tman.
I would love to make some,,, but I just don’t have the wood thin enough to make them… I don’t own a planer,, and plywood that thin just seems like it would be too flimsy.

Used my coon boards on about 1200 and they sold very well down at Beadles and Nafa in last rat boom.

I hate to disagree with my Marine corps buddy but that's a bunch of BS. I have over a100 rat boards, and I've had them for 20 years or so and none of them have warped. Can't Rember who made them for me, but it was someone from Ohio.

I've never seen a wood rat board that was more than one piece. Lol. Maybe, I need to get out more.

Gary, I made those for you. Try to explain to folks that if you take care of them they will last for a very long time. Few listen

I've never heard of such a thing either. Interesting.

How would you pin rats on paneling? Seems like pins would go through the other side?
I see MTP sells basswood rat stretchers. Anything wrong with those?

My rat boards are basswood and a solid 3/8" thick. They work great for XL and up rats. Everything else goes on wire. Well, most go on wire anyway, if I have a bunch to do.

The paneling was a experiment , until I bought true wood stretchers, yes you had to be careful pinning them, but they came out ok... 1/4" luan would be better, and used to be cheap, if you had to make them without access to basswood, but it's the shape that counts anyway...
