When you do have knee replacement, it'll be darn near impossible to kneel on hard surfaces again. I got tired of always adjusting my knee pads on multilayers of cold weather clothing while trapping. Maybe you won't have the same issue as far south as you are. I ended up using a boat seat cushion to kneel. It's got straps and is easy to transport when walking. I had one knee scoped twice and the other done once. Combined with injections, it staved off the inevitable for a year or two. Never ever do both knees at the same time. I had surgery on both feet at the same time and convinced the surgeon I could handle both knees being replaced on the same day. Stupidest decision amongst many bad decisions in life. Don't be like Jim!

Most docs WON"T do both at the same time, mine said your a tough guy, you can handle it... grin

I won't lie, first 10 days were rough, but doable, and it gets better fast...

Yes, kneeling on the hard floor or ground is uncomfortable, you need knee pads, at least, and running might not be in your future, why you would want to run is besides me anyway, lol

Feel free for more helpful advice!, grin

All the stuff ya'll saying you CAN'T do after knee replacement is what I CANNOT do now.

Why should I have TKR?

I've been bone on bone for several years. One cortisone shot a year. You just keep going Swamp.

Had both mine done 8 months apart. Only thing I ever say is wish I had done it sooner. The pain I learned to live with was unreal. Bone on bone hurts bad! My Doctor tole me if you do this you won't be able to run again, I looked at him and said "oh no I won't be able to run?" He said you like to run, " I said do I look like I enjoy running?" I'm a big guy. He just laughed. Kneeling sucks, but otherwise all is good.

I have pain in my knees when I get up from sitting.....most days its just the first 10 or 12 steps..then it moderates. Have pain after extended excursions....lots of walking.....like when deer or turkey hunting. Also, any kneeling, squatting, etc activates the pain immediately.

Doc says I have gout in both knees, but I cannot tell the difference in gout pain and knee joint pain.

I highly recommend these knee pads. Klein Tools from Lowe's. A little pricey at $54, but I feel no grind or pain when down on my knees. Also, the part that extends up on the thigh helps support the knees and prevents the side to side torque that kills my knees.

I've used every brand of $10 to $15 knee pads made over the years.

Had to upgrade.....glad I did as the cheap ones are as bad on my knees as using none.

These new pads have padding and gel. It works.

Well this year is your year then Uncle Swamp. When season is over you know what you have to do. It will only get worse the longer you wait. So you will miss a little bit of outdoor time. I sincerely believe if you will get to it first of March. You will be ready to go by turkey season. Don't delay.

Hope those knee pads are the best ever.

I wore knee pads for 37 years working in low coal mines. Seen at least a dozen varieties, but for me, the best ones for comfort were the plastic shell, neoprene padded knee pads that hinged on the inside and out. Lots of guys liked the one piece neoprene padded knee pads, but the leather straps on those tore up my leg behind my knee.

Those Klein Tool pads look comfy to me.
