So found a little adapter deal that will let me put a scope on my old 3030 without damaging it any. Dad keeps saying he'd like to use it more but the sites and his eyes just dont like each other lol , original I was just going to throw a really low profile pistol red dot on it and call it a day ...but have also been thinking about maybe one of those little old school straight tube scopes . Think something like. 2.5 or 4,x straight tube would be perfect and not look hideous. Only issue is I could only use one scope ring so it would have to be kinda a short scope Anyone got any ideas what would for the bill for something like this ? The old weaver k series look like they would look good on it and eBay has a few for reasonable prices but are there anymore a guy should look for ? Would really prefer a straight tube or as small of a "bell as possible"

That adapter will only work on late model Angle Eject 94s as the true 94 design is a top ejection pattern. The older ones require a side mount scope and loss of all your winchester friends as scopes don't belong on lever guns.

If aging eyes are an issue try one of the many good aperture sights, particularly a tang sight that sits closer to the eye.

BTW, AE models are obvious by the cut down right side wall of the action.

An aperture sight with the aperture removed and a fiber optic bead works very well for old eyes, or put a small holo sight on it....neither has magnification, but for the ranges you're gonna use it it's not a big deal... if you go with a dot scope, make sure the dot is "small" otherwise it will completely obscure the target at longer than pistol range....

This.
I don't know why aperture (peep) sights aren't standard issue on nearly all open sighted rifles. They are far superior to standard open sights.

Marbles still makes the tang sights. For reciever sights I believe Williams and Lyman are your two options. The Williams seems to be more readily available, probably for cause as it's a grub screw sight without the click adjustment of the lyman and is almost all aluminum. The lyman is more of the old designs with click adjust knobs but also uses aluminum in the base. Buffalo Arms has a copy of the old lyman 21 that'll work if the receiver is tapped for it.

There's also a ton of older lyman and redfield sights on fleabay.

Not to rustle any jimmies, but I have a couple old K 2.5 and K4 Weavers.
LOL, I LOSE 10 minutes of shooting light on each end of the day with them
Aluminum K4 made in Japan WAY better.
There's a reason they were $70 new and now 3 times that used.

I.put a red dot on my Dad's deer gun, kept him hunting into.his 80s
Just had to be SURE light intensity was turned down at first and last light

Oh no, the ar is better than the 350 small block and legos combined. But I definitely want a retro A1 build for memory lane.

I'd say tinker toys but you wouldn't get that reference, lol.

That bottom one looks gayer than AIDS and whoever did that needs to have their Man Card revoked immediately. It was probably some Texan or Canadian.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Peep sights complicated?

Nah, throw gun up, look through the hole, put bead on target, squeeze trigger, ... faster than a scope

The only problem with receiver sights, especially the ones with target knobs, is handing off one to your buddies that can't be trusted to not touch the button. They just can't help twisting the knobs.

See that's why I wasn't a small scope . I j have a small compact scope I can set it back in one round so it doesn't cover the top ejection. Would be about like a mosin pu scope
