This is the largest snowfall I can recall in the nearly 36 years I have lived here. While it doesn't compare with the snowfalls we experienced in the UP, Alaska and South Dakota, it's pretty significant for here. I drove my truck around the yard packing the snow down in areas where my short-legged couch hounds could do their business without struggling in the deep snow. I think we got somewhere around 8 inches of powder here. The other times we got snow, I don't recall it being powder. It has usually been a wet snow.

I see NASCAR postponed the exhibition race in Winston-Salem until tomorrow night. I wouldn't bet on it happening then either.

It won't take long to melt. It's supposed to around 50 by Wednesday.

I saw some pretty nasty weather in your area on the news last night. Couldn't believe that much snow in the Carolinas. So far, we have only had a couple inches of snow this winter in southern part of Oregon, and that was on Christmas day. Crazy.

I was going to retire in the Carolinas...

But now that's off my list ...lol

We are up on the other end of NC. We got 4-5 inches. Driest snow I have saw before. Driving last night it would actually blow and create a white-out.

Worst part is,there is a good layer of ice underneath the snow from last week end.

That ice underneath is not good for man nor beast nothing good comes from it here.
