There ya go boys..if theyre wanting that "crappy" southern fur the markets headed up for real...
Somethings going on for a MN buyer to go south for fur when its not supposed to be worth anything..unless hes only buying nutria...
The pelt numbers are low and they need the hudes.
I hope he gets alot of fur and yall make out good.
IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

Our southern brothers and sisters haven’t given up? Nope... You would be surprised at the load of fur Gary G buys here every March with only two stops....one in south GA and one in middle Ga.

You'll be shocked at the junk at the ms. auction! Last time i went it was about 10 percent the size it was through the 90's and early 2000's. I might drop in as i got a yankee that wears gay shoes i might visit while he's there. Enjoy the half rotted dog chewed up blue coon hides, lol.

I don't think GFW makes a run from Arkansas on down into Mississippi.
Looks like that nitche just got filled....except for over into Alabama.
Im glad to see this!!!!!!!!!!!
Hatter beaver, good otter, some decent bobcats, grey foxes, and a brightly-colored coon....for what they're worth.
The South has some decent fur and good numbers.

The South has some decent fur and good numbers. I agree Swamp if he come further south to Louisiana he probably could pick up some more fur. His closest stop to me is still about 3 hrs from my area.

I mean, it can really only go one direction from where it is now. They may need hides. But if they’ve learned anything in the last couple years it’s that trappers will continue to provide them goods at a loss.

But if they’ve learned anything in the last couple years it’s that trappers will continue to provide them goods at a loss. That’s true. But if there were no buyers the last five plus years would the fur market have completely disappeared? Or I could say if trappers weren’t producing at a loss would the whole use of furs died?

We have always been told that a large supply drives the price down.........then....
We are told that without a large supply the market will die.......
I say just trap and sell your fur. Cheap or high....go get 'em!
There will come a day that you won't be able to do anything but sit in a chair and talk/type about it.

Arkansas and Mississippi aren't the south? 3 hours to sell fur is close. He was in Louisiana some last year. Probably didn't advertise it. Dusty is a go getter. My guess is he's looking to the future, markets are turning. Of course, how much is what remains to be seen

Wonder will he be at the malvern fur auction or running a truck rout? According to those dates that were posted; looks like a truck route. Those dates are after the Lonoke sale as well.

No and no. Lol Production at all time lows in the last decade and trappers producing at a loss is why we don’t have a good market. LOL

Just be thankful some people quit or slowed production or this low wouldn't exist. You are welcome! I'm willing to sacrifice for the good of the market. It doesn't even cost me any money or effort. You (like most of the rest of us) will be dead before fur prices reach a level to satisfy you.

How much fur is being exported it was like 80% years ago the domestic use has never been that great for a long time. Just how often do you see Americans wearing fur in their daily duties and how much of that is real fur then?

I know Dusty used to sell a good amount of tanned goods to the trinket trade. People buying a tanned what ever to hang in the house. Why buy more expensive northern fur when the guy buying it doesn't know the difference. He is just as happy with a flat coyote as a good heavy.

So this is novelty market news. I was hoping it was a sign of strength. Dusty made a run out across ND last week and had to have them bring him another trailer before he was done. He had the first one full to the top with carcass coyotes mainly, before he was as far west as he was going and started south to head back east. He has always sold to the trinket trade where he can. I think that anyone who thinks this is a sign of a change in the fur market is dreaming. A fur buyer has to buy and sell fur to stay in business.

This has always been my theory as to why furbuyers are traveling out of the Midwest. Midwest trappers are used to having a somewhat valuable ( and sometimes valuable) product and they have really cut back production.

A lot of the trinket trade will get by with fur with less quality. Why would you want to pay more for fur if you can make as much on cheaper fur? I bet he paid twice as much or more for the coyote he bought last week then he will for the southern types. A hat or pair of mitts does not need the same quality fur as a full length coat.

He won't get many southern coyotes on his buying route. I agree, but the same holds true for any fur no matter what it is. I know he used to have orders from crafters and I would guess he still does.
