I’ve had my Honda 700-2 pioneer since 2022 , it’s a 2021 model and I bought it new. It has always seemed to turn over 4-5 times before starting in warm weather. The problem is when it gets 20 degrees and lower it won’t start. I have a temporary battery wired in which is an Optima gel battery with 750 cca . So it has plenty of battery. I am going to check the fuel pump pressure and voltage and amps next. I always turn the key on and wait for the dash lights and the fuel pump to turn on and build pressure. It will turn over and fires but doesn’t run just keeps turning over and chugging like it wants to start, I’m thinking it’s not getting fuel. This morning it was 8 below when I tried to start it. That was at 6 am, I tried it again at 2 pm and it was 23 degrees and still didn’t start. Has anyone else had this problem. It’s been this way since I got it.

You running ethanol in it? Sounds fuel related, moisture with freezing temps.
I have a 700, 2018 that I bought new. Never had an issue with starting. I have never run ethanol in it either.

Mine was doing that, and I ended up adjusting the valves....Cold weather is when it really shows out.
You just need to bend a feeler gauge for access, and some basic tools. There are tutorials on the internet.

I have a 2018 Honda 700 also.
Its always turned over a few times b4 starting...even in summer.
Have used it every morning past week......a couple mornings in low 20s.
One thing I learned about this Pioneer is it does not utilize transmission fluid. The transmission operates with the motor oil. So, when its cold....the engine oil needs to warm up or the transmission will not shift properly.

Mine gets the regular service at a Honda dealer. Not inexpensive but I want to protect my investment and have it perform when I need it.

I have had it at the dealership and they were supposed to check the valves, only use ethanol free gas and keep the tank full during winter, I use it plow my driveway and use it almost daily. I looked on YouTube and the Honda Pioneer forum. No answer yet. I will check out the valves myself. There’s several people on the Honda forum with the same issue, it has always turned over more than I thought it should even in warm weather before it starts. I have a separate battery for my accessories, light bar , rear lights, dome light, winch, dump bed actuator and a True battery isolator . When it’s running it plows really well and handles a 1000 lbs of firewood in the dump bed. They had three of them at the dealership today that wouldn’t start. They were trying to figure out why not. I’m thinking it’s a fuel problem. I have the service manual and it says 48-53 psi for the fuel pump and flow rate is 12oz in ten seconds. I guess that’s where I will start checking. I put two ew iridium spark plugs in it last summer. YouTube said it would help it start easier.

there was a few comments I've seen on off road sites about Honda's not starting, what's the dealer say about it

I have a 700, 2018 that I bought new. Never had an issue with starting. I have never run ethanol in it either. Ethanol in the gas is a bad for a lot of reasons. But one thing it is good for is moisture in the gas. I remember back when I was young a few people that would add ethanol to every tank of gas in the winter, in vehicles that had issues with moisture in the gas. Moisture in the gas can freeze up in cold weather and restrict fuel flow, ethanol in the gas will prevent this.

I don’t use ethanol gas in any of my wheelers, utv, mower , chainsaws. I changed the plugs and put a truck battery in it with 750 cca. I will check the valves as was recommended (I had asked the dealership to check them but looking at the receipt it’s not listed) I will check the fuel pump pressure and flow. Might be able to get to it today. I will let you know how I make out.

A kerosene torpedo heater is pretty handy. Let it blow across the motor for five or ten minutes and your wheeler wont know its Feb anymore. I think I’d go with electric heater and set timer on your phone to check every 1/2 hour or so. Open flame heaters and engines adds a whole new element of risk.

"and keep the tank full"
Right there. Drain it all out and smell it. You are welcome.
