Last fall I posted picture of wooden whiskey cup made for my son. He wanted to know could I make him and a buddy each one. Since that time I've made couple dozen or more in 3 basic different styles. Always puddering always gears spinning in my head. Each cup I have made is different from the others. I learn something with each mug and each change I make. Had the idea wanted try inlay some metal bands on a mug. Went in shop with kind of let me just try it ideas. Basic mug was similar in shape to several others. I only do basic measurements so no two are identical even in same style. I got it turned out and decided on band placements and burned grooves to hold bands. Dug in my scrap metal picked out I think is number 10 or 12? size solid copper wire? Not going into how I formed and held the wire when soldered it. But I managed to keep it in place and solder the joint. No where near jewelry class joints. Think they turned out fairly well for first try. Next time be better.
My son doesn't know it yet being this is first one like this. Its is going to be his because he got me doing this stuff.
I know where every imperfection is in this mug. Ive come to considered them part of my signature.

Looks Good , 60/40 Solder is good to use for small work , The Gel type Fluxes that are used for Stained glass are good also instead of traditional plumbing Flux
