Guess, I’m going to make a few straw set’s tomorrow on a Creek that’s frozen rock hard,,, coyote are running it.
I was planning on drilling a hole for the anchor and just dropping a wolf fang down in there … but the wolf fang looks a little short,,, might work its way out pretty easily… any of you guys try this?
What do you use to successfully anchor your traps?

Just drive a wolf fang through and it will not pull through unless it doesn't reach under the ice.

I have no experience but my concern would be the cable fraying on the ice edge and popping loose. Unless running chains on the top part, might eliminate that.

My worry was the cable fraying in the edge of the ice too, use chain instead. I just dropped a chain with a bolt through the last link into a drilled hole. Was frozen in very quick. Drags are too easy, do things the hard way…….lol

Use a good size chunk of log for a drag and backing at least it'll float when the ice melts

^ is what I use logs. Works great and the easiest way for me.

Good idea for the log,,, I guess I’d be concerned about the coyote chewing it to death
