Just observant Jews ? What about Asian Indians ? Rural Greeks and Egyptians ? Ethiopians ? Many of those were the first Gentile Christians. Feel free to look up the literacy rates in antiquity ages.

North American Christians are horrible about knowing their own history.

Even the people translating and printing weren't all that bright or just not careful. The " Vinegar Bible " is an example which was also called a "Baskett full of errors." Named after John Baskett that did the handiwork.

The Babylonian Talmud was oral up until the time they printed it, often wonder how many forgetful people like me was in charge of the writing down of it were involved !

Wish I had a old copy of the Vinegar bible, pretty pricey now, lol.

Paul had that problem with Alexander the copper smith and Hymenaeus telling people the resurrection was already past. Usually that is brought up about being divorced and remarried is a perpetual sin.

Some biblical scholars say we are still in the church age.

Well its going to take more than Disney to make me believe the wolf and lamb are dwelling in their utopian state!

Didn't say I agreed with them. I have no idea whether they are right or wrong. It really doesn't matter.

I haven't seen any graves burst open nor have I read in the news where the cemeteries are empty. So I guess it would matter to me if the resurrection has passed and I got left behind. The JW's teach if you missed the first resurrection you can always catch the second. Of course they say Gehenna was only an allegory for city dump. Some things don't matter to me unless, if I'm wrong then I'm wrong but to teach others they missed the boat and cause them to lose faith then that millstone on my neck is going to be a burden in the sea.

Who said that the resurrection of the dead is past? That happens upon Christ returning.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
