Not trying to start anything but was wondering why isn't the main page on this forum about trapping instead of everything else under the sun? The headline is trapper talk.

"Trapper Talk" is just trappers talking. Like around a fire, at a convention, etc.

"Trapping Only" might be what you are looking for.

Wonder how boring and dead it would be around here, if all we did was talk about trapping.

I didnt say you couldn't talk about other things matter of fact ive come on here and had questions about different things over the years. I just thought since it was a trapping forum the main page would be about trapping instead of having to click on and hop to the trapping only page.

You could bookmark the strictly trapping forum so when you click on it to get on Trapperman it'll take you directly there I suppose. ... but if you're like me, you'll still click on this one too.

We DO have a section called Strictly Trapping and that is all there is on that page. If that is what you are seeking you might look there.

About every conversation will take twists and turns few end the way they actually start it’s just the way it is.

Has any else used these locks?

I’m testing some out and, I’d like to hear some opinions from others.

Congrats Blockbuster! Caught my first fox in 1968 and remember it like it was this morning. Used a #2 dls. with some grouse feathers half buried in the snow, bedded the trap in peat moss. That would be considered an illegal set today in Wisconsin because of the exposed feathers.

I also find it strange that every time I log on here, there are 10X as many people viewing “Trapper Talk” versus “Trapping Only”. Seems like there are a lot of trappers that aren’t doing much trapping.

Every day. Setting, moving, and checking about 18 sets. While also being these best husband, father, and business owner that I can be. Spent 3 hours on the trapline today between helping my wife and having a daddy/daughter date with my girl. How about you Bdaniel?

One thing a lot of newer people here don't consider is that some of us have been on this site for 20+ years. We've discussed every trapping topic under the sun dozens of times. But over those years we've made many good friends in here and so we come here to "visit", not so much to talk trapping. We play around, joke, poke fun, and just catch up. We come to see Nessy's latest loaf of sourdough, to see what problems coonman's vechile is having now, to see if the game wardens ever caught up with Savell or if 330trapper ever got his van fixed and rescheduled that date. We try to answer questions for the new trappers, and once in a great while we may even have a trapping question ourselves. But mostly we come because this place and the people on it.... are home. smile

As for trapping... no I'm not. Where i live, with deer dogs running every inch of land from November until the end of January, it's not easy to trap... especially land trap. I planned to set out a line the first part of February but an ice storm knocked our electricity out for 14 days!! That kinda threw a wrench in things. I hope to get a small line out sometime this coming week though.

This and some of us don't trap anymore because age and health make it just too hard to do.
We want to, and notice great spots to make a set, but our bodies smack us with reality. Much like my first wife would smack me for being at a bar with friends instead of home with her and the kids.
This site gives a little dose of times gone by.
It's just nice to BS once in awhile with like people!

Just like trapping; location is everything. If I put a trapping thread on Trap talk I get far more views and responses than if I put in the Trapping only forum.

Thanks bud.i love the jake traps for cats.thats the only thing I use em for.they are to much for my live market k9 line.they are on par with the nice double long springs with big pans but don't take up as much real estate with the big springs.love the dogless with wire levers too

I been here pretty much from the start. Still haven't solved the question of? Boil dye and wax traps?? Which I still do some. Or dip them in coating where you have to decide which gas or thinning fluid to use. Thats a night mare. Which I have also used so done that.. then there is painting with oil based paint?? Whats best to thin that with?? Which I have done. Or formula 1 which I have done some with too.
Im still confused. Because should just wash off the factory oil? And set them traps?

You can't ask these question in the trapping only page. It's has to be seen by the trout fisherman and deer hunters too. Lmao.

Almost forgot .. I will never figure out yhe best way to peel a hard boiled egg. Going to keep trying.

Mac
