Is there anyway to keep dirt from getting so dark after wax. Maybe im adding to much wax.
I start with light brown dirt and it really dark almost black.

It sounds like you may be using too much wax per your volume of dirt. You will have a slightly darker end result dirt after it gets coated with the wax but not that much of a shade difference. At least mine doesn't change that much. You may have scorched your wax and dirt mix.

Could be also that your dirt pigment changes that much when it gets wet and wax coated.

It seems it all gets darker here no matter if I starts out light or dark it’s kind of how I know it’s done the rocks don’t take it well and don’t darken that much. Just my take.

You should measure your volumes out for your dirt and wax and that shouldnt happen. The color shouldnt hurt anything, just blend it over with some natural duff that isn't too wet.
