Don't suppose you could share any particulars? Or had to swear a silence oath to keep the kayak and binocular folk out of the loop.

You got me there. But so what?

Recent history has gone from coyotes, a mainstream fur use item that got woked out of existence. To beaver that are ground up and disguised as cowboy hats. To a religious ritual skunk, of which none had legs. Today, marten, a high end natural fur product.

Finally a step in the right direction, a foundation.

Nimzy, historically beaver have been America's most important furbearer. And grinding it up and making it into hats the principal use.

That is arguable. Depending on the time periods.

Post 19th century coats and real fur accessories are dominant. Which intensely broadened the industry.

Bobcats, even more niche. Ultrarich or trinket trade.

From a buyer's perspective? Or a producer's perspective? There is a difference

A good hatter market is important part of the mix in a strong Beaver market.

Catherine, nobody thinks Jerry's dumb. What would you think of your idea of making good money to ours isn't the same. I'm happy for Jerry. He gets to do what he loves

I certainly appreciate that. However there is a disconnect to the “fur trade”. Which unfortunately reflects weakness

Those were the days! I had marten, mink and otter in that sale. Had a marten go for $260.00 and a mink for $48.00, (I don't remember my averages), I think it was. I forget the otter prices I received, but it was ALMOST enough to get me to spend more time on otter....almost.

Just doing what I want now.

I decided to look back at my harvest records to see what I had in 2012. Fortunately for me (a crappy record keeper) ODFW requires us to report our catch every year so I have precise records!

68 otters and 253 beaver that year.
