Careful Law Dog. Any mention of catching non targets will get you “pinched” without warning. You’re on thin ice with this comment……lol

Places a deer won’t go through that a fox will a guy should apply a little common sense when needed. LOL He’s not using snares from the sets he’s listed solid advice given.

100% LD. One thing I've found is that some deer do some real stupid stuff.....lol, but that's trapping. There's BMPs but the wildlife don't play by anyone's rule book.

Wind Blew, crap flew, out came the line crew

Agree I’ve seen them do the impossible.

I’m after canines (and coons once they become active again) and I know all of these animals are in the area.
I’m setting in the best locations I can - based on topography/habitat and what little sign that this much fluffy snow can show (tons of deer tracks).
I’m running about 1/4 scent post sets, 1/4 hay sets, 1/4 buried bait sets, and 1/4 dirt hole sets. I have about 18 sets out.
I do my best to control my scent and cover my tracks in the snow.
I’m bedding my traps solid and keeping them working in these cold conditions.
But, I’m not seeing predator tracks at my sets and they’re not working my sets from want I can tell.
Any help is appreciated.
I’m working really hard at this and enjoying the process, but starting to get discouraged as the season gets closer to the end.
Trapping in the snow seems hard.

It Is harder than with no snow, clear sets off for eye appeal and moisture control.
I find my catch is cut in half with heavy snow.
You can try snow sets, but it's hard to not get hard crusted snow on trap covering.
My best set is a #3 in a coyote track and a thin slice of snow drift top to cover it.
On a pee post set, or a trail a coyote previously used
