I am sure many who trap also deer hunt. It's being reported that Milo Hansen (1945 - 2026) has passed away. He was the current B & C typical whitetail record holder. R.I.P. Mr. Hansen His deer scored 213 5/8" [Linked Image]

My favorite whitetail rack, just ahead of the Jordan buck. Or is it the other way…..I can never really make my mind up which is cooler. I remember reading all about it in North American Whitetail magazine as a kid! RIP. Happy trapping! ScottW

Now we might get to see if the Rampalo (sp?) is real. Read somewhere that he and Milo had an agreement that he wouldn’t certify his buck while Milo was still alive.

Youll never see the Rompola buck as he will not allow it to get x-rayed....for obvious reasons.

Right. Mitch isn't gonna let anyone check his skull. For whatever reason.

Which is all but admitting it's been altered or whatever.

He's had his chance.

Dude has killed some great bucks and a lot of em, but you can't claim to have the best if no one gets to see it.

He's either a liar or a nut job. Or both.

I thought Milo had sold controlling intrest of the rights to his buck and the lawsuit and settlement was between Ropala and the those that owned the rights to the Hanson buck.

Thinking back on it I do believe the agreement was not to have the deer officially scored as long as the Hanson buck is the world record.

Or one that was so fed up with the jealousy of what hunting had become he wanted no part of it and had no intrest giving the doubts any kind of validation one way or the other. Theres other world class deer legally shot that people keep to themselves for different reasons

There were no deer even close to Rompolas area that near that size. That deer was either a fabrication, a farm deer or just happened to be about twice the size of the average mature deer there.

I get it. Good for those people. I've seen pics of the other bucks Mitch has killed, dude is a killing machine.

Just saying if he wanted to prove his was legit and wasn't altered all he had to do was let the judges see it. Not some random judge in a private scoring. Big claim to say you have the biggest buck ever, then not let anyone see it.

Has to be a reason, other than a rift with CBM, that he won't let it get examined/scored. Till that happens, he can't say boo.

Yes I agree he could have legitimized the buck if that was his desire

He had the desire, until folks called him out and asked for a simple bone xray that would put any doubt to rest.....if it looks like a duck, flys like a duck, and sounds like a duck....you know the rest

I shared ur opinion once. But it was just an option based on very little direct knowledge on my part. If it was real shame on all of us for calling him a liar with so little evidence.

He traveled and hunted, all his deer were not shot in the same state/area. Guy definitely killed some huge deer

None of it matters.

I have the real world record but you can’t see it.

He had the bow record in MI for a while. Killed it in 85. Supposedly same area as the mystery buck. 12 pt - 181"

He stacked up some real good ones in MI
