Our hens have been slacking lately, so we go to a local farm that sells eggs to supplement. I noticed they sold duck eggs. I’ve never tried a duck egg so I bought a dozen. Tried them tonight for the first time.

I made a three egg omelette with portobello mushrooms and onions.



I added some onion cheddar cheese I bought from a local butcher shop when I was getting my beef fat for sausage.



They were pretty good, not much different than chicken eggs, maybe a bit more flavor.

I understand that duck eggs are really good for baking. It's also my understanding that duck eggs are really good for cancer patients. Forget why,though . Great looking spread, Lugnut.

They have something in them that fights cancer. Alkaline maybe? Can't remember.

They were harder to mix than chicken eggs. I had to really whip them up to get them blended.

We mainly eat duck eggs. I find the yolks larger and richer. The whites are also thicker and a little sticky compared to chicken eggs.

We eat mostly duck eggs in the summer. They are a bit more rich, and I feel that they are the superior egg for making noodles.

We found duck eggs to be more chewy than chicken eggs, not sure I like them, seem more like work eating

We raised ducks for two years and as stated the eggs were tougher, stickier and in some ways tougher to deal with and a taste that was somewhat different, but the real reason the ducks are gone is they were reallly, really messy birds. We bought more laying hens when they left. Ours were free range like our chickens and because they did not roost, predation was a bigger issue for us too.

Yeah, we tried keeping ducks for eggs once. My wife bought a pair for my granddaughter and didn’t tell me. And she thought I could whip out a shelter for them in a weekend… didn’t happen.

I put the ducks in our pond thinking they’d be safe from predation but apparently they were too dumb to stay in the pond and something, most likely a red fox, took both of them the first night they were here.

duck eggs are my favorite to eat way richer flavor in my mind. love them over easy or poached. wife loves them for baking. gets mad when our son and i eat them all and she had baking plans over the weekend lol. we have our own flock ducks and chickens. but this time of year things slow way down for us.

My great grandmother always said duck eggs were very good to use for baking.

I sell duck eggs from time to time, bakers love them and pay really good for them.

I use duck eggs for baking all the time. Theyre a little richer..imo
