my highest bill this winter was 214 for 31 days 6.90 a day
really less than that because with a gas stove , hot water and cloths dryer even in the summer my gas bill is 20 dollars , generally once I get cooking more and heating colder water it is about 35
actual heat is around 5.77 a day

it is weird but not that bad , we have hardly used the furnace for the last 18 years it has been mostly wood

but my furnace had an issue in April it was 61 years old and with the wife having cancer starting last dec I didn't get much wood put up so I bought a new furnace this year and have not used a furnace this much in 18 years

the furnace I had was installed in 1964 and had been rebuilt in 1990 it was a oil furnace.

mostly wood, in 10 years of living is this house, my total lp bill for a winter has never been over 250

2 gallons of ethanol free fuel and a bit over 5 ounces of oil cuts all my wood for the year, ten gallons of diesel gets it all to the house. The work to cut, split, and stack it saves me a gym membership. Any man with a bit of land should already own a chainsaw, ain't no way it cost me a buck a day and the deer really love my woods when I am done.

I spend more money on snowmobiling than I do to heat my house.

Ninth coldest winter on record here in PA. Sure am glad I stopped using the furnce thirty-some years ago.

My daughter has over $2,000.00 in fuel oil so far in her new-to-her old farmhouse.

I run a wood boiler. The power used is just a small portion of my monthly power bill of roughly $150. I won’t pretend the wood ends up piled there for free though, time is money.

My time working as a contractor is money, good money. My time cutting wood is not. I could be sitting around watching a movie or doing nothing at all. Instead, I choose to provide heat for the winter.

Who would I be billing those hours to if that time is money?
