Anyone have any experience with a Marlin Mod 783 ?

Tube fed 22 mag.........I had one as a garage gun and it shot excellent. I replaced it with a 25MN so they would all be the same.

I have a 780

the thing to watch on the 780 or any of the tube feeds is that they feed rounds correctly

the 780 got weak springs and would only feed about half the magazine.

the 783 will probably depend on if the tube was left loaded for decades

also the safety on those were pull not push like modern bolt action rifles , not bad just 180 degrees different.

I think faster if you were a hammer puller to start with you cleared that safety on the way up like you did the hammer on your lever gun

the micro groove barrels were very accurate till they got leaded up ,then a good scrubbing with a brass brush would bring them back

I've had one for about 40 yrs. Excellent shooter. I really need to redo the stock, it's showing some "character"

I have a 883. So far it has been a good rifle.

I've got a 57M. Cool gun.

I'll load it up and test how it feeds before I make a decision. Never could see the need for a .22 magnum but the price is right

Start coon calling Ric. The .22 mag is the ideal caliber. I had a tube fed bolt action Marlin when I started out calling them. Worked really well.

Marlin’s tube feed 783 is generally pretty reliable. I much prefer a tube feed to a magazine on rimfires.

I've had a 783 for probably 20 years now. That's one rifle money won't buy. Killed a ton of squirrels and coon with that gun. It loves CCI solids.
