There will always be that one that will defy the odds.

I hate catching otters. I suppose it was bound to happen with all the sign. This one was caught in the offset snare with the leaning stick at the crossover. I’m trying to imaging how this happened and I’m considering the possibility that another trapper is “punking” me.

Was it out of season? Targeting beaver?

Not out of season and yes, targeting beaver. When I have a lot of otter sign I only set snares trying to avoid them. I have a lot of knock downs and closed loops but rarely find an otter in one, especially one deceased.

Why do you not want them?

I also hate catching otters while targeting beavers.

I hate catching beavers while targeting otter.

I hate not catching otters or beavers while targeting either one!
