Was here for years in central SD very bad it ran it’s course for many years. I snared a couple in cat country one had the red crotch most here get the thin necks between the shoulders and head areas.

I discussed it with a buddy from just 90 miles south of me and he hasn’t seen mange in years…2016 for me.

Had it in an area in the 90's i trapped, same line in 2000 only produced 2 coyotes vs the 20 in a week it historically would do. Got them so weak distemper finally wiped them out and got rid of most of it. Area is a dog dumping ground so feral dogs galore all over is what keeps it going i think. Rough way for an animal to die.

Don’t know how those poodle looking ones make it to spring in the North country but I’ve caught a few in the worse winter conditions that we’re getting around no problem it looked like. Seen some move into bale stacks and calf shelters also.

Should be one more around according to tracks…and after the US / Can hockey game I will look around…

I have never trapped coyotes in a general area that there wasnt mange. Some years its just worse than others. This year every coyote I caught on my home place had mange. 4 miles away as the crow flies none of them showed mange symptoms.

Poor things never shoulda got that close to catch mange from you Les. lol

One out of five here this year, they sure do stink!
