Looking for some advice here. I'm using vaseline for the base with strawberry jelly rendered down. I'm adding cherry essence, anise and am contemplating adding ground glands. I figure it covers food and breeding as we have a spring season here in Maine. Any thoughts or comments? Any input would be appreciated.

Swamp donkey i make a feed-bed lure with Jamisons fruit base and anise/spearmint and one with sweetflag (calamus) and ylang ylang oil they both work great but if you set feed-beds once the ice opens up
be sure to secure the trap sound.... cuz you will have coons swimming out to investigate with any ingredients extracts will work in a pinch but personally i would use either steam-distilled oils or a really good tincture

I would not use a vaseline based lure where the target animal can reach it and get it on the fur. It is almost impossible to get it out of the fur. But dried fur in where they can't see it may not matter to you?

I would probably use gland separately. Depending on the strength of the oils in the lure you can overpower them.

I assume your goal is to make a standalone lure but just a warning that it is possible to nullify expensive glands like rat glands by overpowering them.
