So I had a couple sets out for the Wiley coyote, this here was urine grass clump set. I caught a very nice medium to large female coyote with a front foot pad catch. She was dead like she had just collapsed as soon as she was caught the trap underneath her chain loose an nothing tore up. I skinned her and there was nothing out of ordinary. So I'm guessing heart attack? What else?

Me neither, only thing I can come up with is a heart attack but if it was there was no kicking or thrashing. It was very strange.

I'm pretty much a loner, I'm usually am in and out and no one even knows ive been there.i caughtone other coyote and a couple dozen coon and they weren't messed with. I guess my first thought when I saw it dead was someone shot her but that wasn't the case. Most people these days don't have enough ambition to go to that.

Only dead coyotes Ive foudn in trap were bald with mange no circle. I'd like to know what happened.

picked one up the side of road this year looked like zero damage other than some blood on the chest ended up being a rifle hole

Had the same thing happened with a red maybe 25 years ago.
Perfectly healthy looking fox just laid out like it had a heart attack.

Too much red meat in the diet

Had one dead in trap coyote

Was missing part of a leg and I just guessed that it got caught and just threw in the towel.
Same thing, not much disturbance at the location

Other than missing that part of leg (not fresh but not healed either) he seemed to be in decent shape, not poor or sick looking

I have had this on a couple of occassions. Coyote just dead in the trap. But there was a definate catch circle they made. Is strange.
